Ashok Guanguly

Recipient of the Madhuri and Jagdish N. Sheth International Alumni Award for Exceptional Achievement 2003 Dr. Ashok Ganguly is a giant in the industrial and scientific center of India as well as a major player in the international food and allied industries system. He is Chairman of Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) India Ltd. He served as Chairman of Hindustan Lever Ltd., and following that was named the Chief Technical Officer of Unilever, a global food company. Currently, Dr. Ganguly is the Director of the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India, a member of the Indian Government Technology Development Board, and a number of other Indian Government committees. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, he has been recognized as an author, scientist, and businessman. He was named India's Business Man of the Year in 1986 and conferred the prestigious Padma Bhushan in 1987, one of India's highest honors for contribution to public service. Dr. Ganguly received both his MS and PhD (1959 and 1961 respectively) from the University of Illinois Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.
