Cristina Ferreira-Pinto

Cristina Ferreira-Pinto Bailey was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She holds a Ph.D. in Brazilian and Spanish-American literatures from Tulane University, New Orleans, where she attended plenty of Jazz Fests and Mardi Gras parades. Her major fields of research are Brazilian women's literature, and feminist literary criticism, and she has published numerous essays in academic journals in Brazil, United States, and Spain. She also writes poetry and cronicas. Since 1994, she has lived in Austin, Texas, with her husband Matthew, daughters Nina and Camila, and three cats. She is currently Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Modern Languages at Southwest Texas State University.
